'El Futuro' Business Internship Program

Every business has realized that establishing a link between the workforce of today and the workforce of tomorrow is one of the most effective methods of assuring future success.

As we endeavor to create a stronger and sustainable economic infrastructure, we must focus on developing a strong workforce for today and our future.

To that end, San Mateo County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is creating ‘El Futuro’ Business Internship Program to:
  • Mentor Latino students to encourage and motivate them to complete their college education and provide career development opportunities to ensure their success.
  • Offer paid internship opportunities for Latino college students to gain professional work experience either through the Chamber and/or with local business owners.  The internship is for low-income college students and the stipends will serve to alleviate the economic hardship they face.
  • Provide Latino students the opportunity to develop valuable skills and garner work experience that will assist them in their future career.
  • Train students in the following areas: marketing, business development, public speaking, leadership skills, computer and technology, budgeting, civic engagement and research.
  • Teach the value of creating and maintaining a strong network by connecting them to key influential community, business and government officials that could be instrumental in their life and career.
